Faustine Bollaert was Thomas Isle’s guest on Culture Médias this Thursday, March 14 on Europe 1. The French favorite host returned to her very difficult collaboration with Guillaume Pley in the show “Rising Star”.

The show Rising Star will not have really made an impression… Launched ten years ago on M6, the program, presented as revolutionary, was a real flop. The concept of Rising Star was simple: candidates sang behind a huge digital screen and were judged by the public and the jury made up of Cali, David Hallyday, Cathy Guetta and Morgan Serrano. The wall rose when the “yes” vote reached 70%.

“I was expected around the corner”

“It didn’t work at all. I think that at the time, it was only our parents who were watching,” analyzes Faustine Bollaert on Europe 1, who was in charge of the program with Guillaume Pley. At the time, M6 had great difficulty finding the perfect host to present the program. “I was really expected at the turning point because they had looked all over Paris for a host, a host (…) In the end, they hadn’t found one, they had tried to approach everyone so they said to themselves that they were going to take two presenters”, explains the presenter on the microphone of Thomas Isle.

“It was a bit of suffering”

Alas, the pair formed by Faustine Bollaert and Guillaume Pley did not spark… “I presented with Guillaume Pley with whom it had also been a little complicated… I don’t keep a good memory, apart from with our jury, but it was a bit painful. We knew it didn’t work”, remembers the favorite TV personality of the French. One anecdote particularly struck her: “One day, the digital wall that was supposed to go up collapsed, we were live. I remember in my headset, the producer (..) who said to me: ‘You know, when it doesn’t want, it doesn’t want'”. Faustine Bollaert today prefers to laugh about it: “It’s educational and it’s part of my life, it’s funny,” she concludes.
