We’re getting fed up with down jackets, scarves and winter boots. Stylish alternatives are needed. Fashion editor Ilka shows which styles will end up in her shopping bag this month and why the onion look is still underestimated.

There are really only two seasons in my closet: winter and summer. Summer dresses, sandals, down jackets or wool scarves are no problem at all, but colorful knitwear for the transition between seasons is rarely found in my clothes. But especially when winter doesn’t bring any snow, but all the more rain, I’m absolutely in a fix with my wardrobe. Luckily, if you don’t have ideas for style combinations, you can get inspiration from other fashionistas. I’ll tell you here which styles will move into my closet and what you should pay attention to when styling.

1. The preppy trend, but with a difference

School uniform-inspired preppy style is all the rage right now. But instead of a knit slipover and pleated skirt, Annabel Rosendahl prefers to combine a white T-shirt with a suit waistcoat and complete her outfit with an XL blazer and wide denim pants. This look combines so many styles, but overall looks incredibly harmonious and casual. I would like to integrate the skilful play of styles and epochs into my own style. Many of the elements are already in my closet and just need to be rearranged, but one it-piece will definitely end up in my shopping bag this month: the fanny pack. And that doesn’t mean the worn-out fanny pack from the 2000s, no, a beautiful leather belt bag.

A t-shirt with a waistcoat and an oversized coat with a fanny pack – what sounds like a contradiction in terms becomes ultra-cool street style with Annabel Rosendahl.

2. Cargo trousers are experiencing a revival

Low-rise cargo pants remind me of my childhood. At the tender age of 12, I felt really cool with “Loose Yourself” and my black, baggy pants. At least in my opinion one of the most stylish women, Pernille Teisbaek, takes the rough fashion style of the hip-hop scene and makes something completely new out of it. Street style elements are combined here with glamor accessories. Of course, sandals are a bold decision in winter, which is why high ankle boots or closed pumps are a good alternative.

3. My “Emily in Paris” moment

Although I’m actually not a big fan of the new series and, as a fashion fan, I was disappointed with Emily’s outfits, I couldn’t escape the wanderlust for the city of love either. There is something magical about Paris and the fashion of French women. It’s a blend of elegance and lightness that’s so difficult to imitate. Singer Mandy Capristo’s style is also inspired by French chic. True to the motto: “Less is more”, she shows that an all-black look can be incredibly interesting if you know what is important. Mandy only combines classics in her outfit: A wool coat with a straight cut, a matching beret and golden hoops. So easy and so beautiful!
