(sda) Week after week, FC Zurich proves that it is a valid candidate for the championship. Against his city rivals, he managed to score points again this season after falling behind. He was 1-0 down at half-time on Saturday night and came out of the dressing room transformed.

The FCZ needed less than two minutes after the restart to equalize. Assan Ceesay, who returned from the Africa Cup of Nations and was rested for 45 minutes, scored to make it 1-1 after a cross from Ousmane Doumbia. After the Gambier’s twelfth goal of the season, FCZ clearly dictated the course of the game and usually stopped the Grasshoppers’ attempts to attack early on.

The increased aggressiveness after the somewhat tame first half also paid off at 2:1. Aiyegun Tosin intercepted an unsuccessful, too short back pass from GC playmaker Hayao Kawabe to the goalie and definitely put the leader on course. The second victory in the second half of the season was no longer in danger. Another joker, Wilfried Gnonto, made it 3-1.

Coach André Breitenreiter not only succeeds in making profitable substitutions, he also saved the winning mentality brought in over the winter break. Although the pressure increases with every victory, the FCZ have not lost their way so far. With two wins, he started the second half of the season optimally.

The Grasshoppers can claim to have kept up very well for one half. They even did more to attack for 45 minutes and took the lead just before the break through their captain Dominik Schmid. As a result, they could not keep up the pace. They made too many bad passes and hardly ever came close to the FCZ penalty area in a dangerous way.
