NEW YORK (Reuters) – Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic said on CNBC on Friday that while inflation remains too high, it is falling amid indications that inflation is slowing. economy are increasing, which could pave the way for monetary policy easing late next year.
“We must get closer to 2% before considering any easing. Inflation is our priority, we must control it,” recalled Raphael Bostic, who is not voting on the Committee of Governors (FOMC) this year, but will vote next year.
However, a relaxation is possible next year, possibly “at the end of 2024”, he estimates.
In his television interview, Bostic said the information he was gathering indicated that the economy, while still growing, was losing speed, but added that he did not expect a recession.
