The State announced, Monday, December 20, 2021, new financial support of 150 million euros for complex fiber connections in rural areas. The funding must support the objective of generalization of fiber that the State has set for the end of 2025 with the France Très Haut Débit plan.

The funding follows a study carried out by the Directorate-General for Enterprises and the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion aimed at targeting the difficulties “capable of permanently preventing certain premises from being connected”, indicates a press release from the State Secretariat for Digital. “While the rate of connections is progressing very significantly, difficulties in connecting certain housing and business premises appear, warning them of effective access to fiber”, notably concluded the study.

According to Le Figaro, local authorities will also have to invest € 1 for each euro spent by the State, bringing the total amount to € 300 million.
