FIFA 22: Maradona’s Icon card removed from Ultimate Team

Electronic Arts has made the decision to remove all Argentina legend Diego Maradona Icon cards from FIFA 22 due to a legal dispute.

Just like players such as Zinedine Zidane, Pelé or Ronaldo, Diego Maradona is one of the best FIFA 22 Icon players in the Ultimate Team mode. This is surely one of the most sought after cards given its ability to score goals easily.

Unfortunately, FUT players will no longer be able to have the Golden Boy on their squad as EA removed all Maradona cards on March 19th.

The three Diego Maradona cards in FUT that have been removed.

The news was brought to us on Twitter by FutSheriff and EA have now confirmed that they have suspended all Maradona related items in FIFA 22 due to a “third party dispute”.

“Diego Maradona will be suspended from FIFA 22 due to a dispute with a third party. His cards will no longer be available in Packs, DCEs, or Drafts.”

In a message in FIFA 22, EA said:

“Due to a dispute with a third party, we have to suspend Diego Maradona from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team packs, future FUT content and the Soccer Aid World Team XI in EA SPORTS FIFA 22.

As a result, Diego Maradona Icon items will no longer be available in packs, DCE, and FUT Draft. We share our fans’ disappointment and hope to bring one of football’s greatest icons back into the game at some point in the future.

Players who already had Diego Maradona cards at their club can still use him in their squads and play with him and he is also still available on the transfer market. But its price was set to prevent traders from taking advantage of this situation.

We don’t know if this is a temporary or permanent decision, but we will keep you updated on the progress of the case regarding FIFA and Diego Maradona.
