FIFA 23: Mbappé, Ronaldo, Messi or Benzema, do their ratings follow the reality on the ground?

Ratings are always a big talking point every year on FIFA, and FIFA 23 won’t change. Namely and few people are aware, the general rating of a player does not depend on his performances last season, but on THE last seasons. So a player who has historically been very strong will keep a high rating for several years.

FIFA 23: lower ratings than in the old games?

It’s a pretty important little precision, because without it it’s hard to really judge the ratings of the players.

The first thing that really strikes you when you see the top 20 players on FIFA 23 is that we have this year 5 players with the highest rating. And that this rating is not higher than 91, whereas in previous years we only had 1 or 2 players at the top of the rankings with a rating between around 92-93.

In the end 91, it’s not worse, because we see it year after year on the FUT mode, we have boost cards again and again for the different players. So we end up with players with different versions, but with the same rating as we have seen with Benzema, Mbappé, etc. on FIFA 22.

France well present in the FIFA 23 Top Ratings!

After reviewing this top 20, we see that Karim Benzema has taken +2 compared to last season and given the stratospheric season he has achieved for Madrid it seems logical be rewarded with a raise. To reach the same level as the other monsters of our favorite sport.

Lewandowski was good, but perhaps a little less efficient than last season, especially with the end of his contract with Munich, so logically he lost 1 point. Kylian Mbappé and Kevin De Bruyne met expectations last season without necessarily exceeding expectationsso they keep their 91 from FIFA 22.

Lionel Messi meanwhile, he had a pretty tough season with Paris after leaving Barcelona. Some supporters even wondered why he had come to Paris given his season. Here for the resumption of Ligue 1, he is in very good shape, but this was not the case last season, so he takes -2 on his general rating.

It’s always hard to tell if player ratings are justified, but if we take the example of the top 5 we just reviewed here, it seems pretty consistent.
