According to information from Weaver FUT, EA Sports would have chosen to remove the collective on FIFA 23and therefore no longer attach importance to having players from the same club/league/country, to replace the rating out of 100 with stars. Up to three stars can be obtained, and this will, most likely, indicate the level of the team.

We have no more information to date, which remains only a rumor, but if this change is confirmed, it’s a whole way of doing things that will evolve. We will no longer be limited by a collective and we will be able to stack the best players (provided we have the credits, of course). Another important point should also be mentioned, the Icons. These cards, in addition to being powerful enough for a game, had the double role of not skewing the team, or even improving it. With this system, the Icons could therefore lose their value, unless these cards are also reviewed by EA.
As a reminder, FIFA 23 could also offer the cross-play functionality, for the first time. The developers have also been testing cross-play on FIFA 22 for a few weeks. We’ll know more shortly, once FIFA 23 is revealed to players.
