Film of Hamas massacres in Israel to be shown at National Assembly

Images of the massacres committed by Hamas terrorists on October 7 on Israeli territory will be projected Tuesday in the National Assembly, announced Renaissance MP Mathieu Lefèvre, at the origin of this initiative. The broadcast, which will take place in a projection room at the Palais Bourbon, is offered to the 120 MPs who are members of the France-Israel friendship group, its president Mathieu Lefèvre told AFP, confirming information from the Figaro. Senator Roger Karoutchi (Les Républicains), president of the friendship group with Israel in the upper house, told AFP that he also wanted to organize a broadcast.

“Legitimate that parliamentarians can have access to it”

It is a film of approximately three-quarters of an hour, produced by the Israeli authorities using extracts from the cameras and phones of Hamas fighters, killed or taken prisoner, and images captured by victims and first aiders. It shows without filter images of killings and tortured corpses of adults and children. Israel has already broadcast these images in several countries abroad. They were screened on Tuesday in Paris to around fifty journalists by the country’s embassy in France, which explained that it wanted to show the media the sometimes questioned reality of the massacre.

“It seems legitimate to me that parliamentarians can also have access to it,” says Mathieu Lefèvre, explaining that he contacted the Israeli embassy to be able to organize a screening at the Assembly. “Obviously, telephones will be banned and there will be no collaborators”, only deputies, he specifies, without knowing at this stage how many elected officials will wish to watch this film, described as unbearable by those who watch it. have viewed. “It is important to be able to continue to bear witness, current events are often unfortunately swept away quite quickly and we must be able to continue to bear witness to the unspeakable, nothing would be worse than forgetting,” argued Mathieu Lefèvre .

Images of the killings in the kibbutz or during the music festival

Among the images in the film are those of armed men killing civilians, notably in Kibbutz Beeri, where 85 people were killed and 26 taken hostage. Others show Hamas members mowing down young people fleeing a music festival where more than 270 people died.

More than 1,400 people, including more than 1,100 civilians, have been killed by Hamas since October 7 on the Israeli side, mainly civilians, and at least 240 people have been taken hostage, according to Israeli authorities. In retaliation, Israel declared a war to “eradicate” Hamas in the Gaza Strip, in the hands of the Islamist movement. Israeli bombings left 10,812 dead, mainly civilians, including 4,412 children, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.
