Final Fantasy XIV: Phil Spencer does not give up the idea of seeing the MMO on Xbox

Microsoft has been pushing hard to get closer to Japanese studios, with more and more Xbox ports of Japanese games coming through Game Pass, but the company has yet to get its hands on any of the games the most popular at the moment Square-Enix. We are talking here about Final Fantasy XIV, available only on PC and PlayStation consoles, despite the fact that Phil Spencer announced that the MMO would come to Xbox consoles one day or another. Except that it’s now been 3 years since the big boss of Xbox said that, and still no port in sight. But the idea is not abandoned.

The ongoing collaboration between Microsoft and Square Enix

During the Tokyo Game Show, Phil Spencer was able to talk to many media, including Game Watch (with an exchange relayed by VGC), who returned to the question Final Fantasy XIV. Visibly amused by the reminder, Spencer said, with a smile:

Of course, we haven’t given up yet. This is a Microsoft and Square Enix commitment to gamers and we will continue to coordinate our efforts.. »

The work therefore seems to be still in progress, even if one imagines that it is currently not the priority of Naoki Yoshida and his teams at the moment. But there is obviously some hope, at least on the side of Phil Spencer.
