Final Fantasy XVI: an update 1.10 is available with many new features, DLCs and an official PC version!

It’s been a little over two months since Final Fantasy XVI is available, which quickly sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Following a slight patch day onethere CBU3 has as expected added some additional technical features via the 1.03 update at the beginning of July. During the panel Voices From Valisthea which was held at the PAX West tonightseveral announcements concerning the game have therefore been made, starting with dissemination of a news update numbered 1.10, who was entitled to a short video. Be careful, if you haven’t played FFXVI or advanced enough, do not look at it and do not read what will follow, because a big spoiler is present there.

The first major novelty is the addition of appearances for the main characters and a system of transmog for weapons (give the appearance of any unlocked sword to the one equipped), to be modified via the Stele of Excellence of Lair which has a dedicated section. A onion sword has for the occasion been added to the Mailbox of the tab System. So, Clive, Jill, Joshua (we said that would spoil !), Talgor And Ambrosia are each entitled to an alternative outfit: Black Ifrit, Shiva White, Phoenix Gray, icy blue And Rosalian Gold.

And, as if by chance, this 1.10 update weighs no less than 1.101 GB. Here is our translation of changelog :

  • Adds appearance functionality to the Stele of Excellence in the Lair:
    • This allows the costumes of several characters to be changed, including Clive;
    • It also allows you to change the appearance of the weapon Clive uses to that of any previously obtained weapon;
    • This feature is unlocked after progressing to a certain point in the story and is not available at the start of a New Game+ game until the same point is reached;
    • Please note that this feature is disabled in some scenes to maintain loading speed.

  • Grants each player an Onion Sword, which can be claimed by accessing the Inbox from the System menu:
    • This allows Clive to use the favored blade of the Warriors of Light, heroes of Final Fantasy III;
    • The Inbox feature is unlocked after progressing to a certain point in the story;
    • The Onion Sword has the same attributes as the other downloadable weapons, Valiant Heart and Sanguine Sword.

  • Reduces the time after a successful parry that Primal skills can be activated.
  • Increases the amount of time small enemies remain vulnerable to incoming attacks after being lifted into the air by the player, allowing for easier aerial combos.
  • Adds ability cooldowns to relevant detail pages in the Skills menu, including information on how these are affected by currently equipped accessories.
  • Made the following changes to the Stele of Excellence Training options menu:
    • Adds several options regarding the behavior of Torgal;
    • Adds option to restart simulation from original settings;
    • Fixes some text issues.

  • Made the following changes to Arcade mode:
    • Add a time limit to each step:
      • This change is intended to fix an issue where certain abilities could be used to continually rack up points over time, resulting in higher scores than intended;
      • You can continue to play as normal after the time limit is exceeded, but any other actions will not add to your score.

    • Reduces scores given by Ice Prison (Shiva) and Rapacity (Garuda) abilities:
      • Please note that in this update and in the future, we plan to adjust the scoring system to reward the creative chaining of several abilities. We will continue to evaluate how Arcade mode scores are calculated to maintain its challenge.

    • Introduces a new leaderboard for players who have this update installed. Players who do not install the update can continue to view and save their high scores on the old leaderboard:
      • After installing this update, you will no longer be able to view or save high scores on the old leaderboard. However, scores saved in the previous leaderboard will not be deleted. We plan to make previous leaderboards visible to all players in a future update.

  • Made the following changes to the System menu:
    • Adds an Adaptive Triggers option to the Game Options menu, which allows you to enable or disable the wireless controller triggers feature;
    • Adds a Change Locked Target option to the Game Options menu, which allows you to choose one of four different methods to change targets when locked on an enemy;
    • Adjusted the functionality of the Camera Tracking (Attack) option in the Camera menu, to fix an issue where the camera position would reset after certain attacks, even when this option was disabled;
    • Adds a Controller Sound Effects Volume option to the Sound menu, which allows you to adjust the volume of sound effects played through the wireless controller’s speaker;
    • Adjusts the functionality of the Show onscreen sounds option in the Sound menu, so that a preview of alerts is displayed when the setting is turned on and a confirmation dialog appears when the setting is changed ;
    • Fixes some text issues.

  • Fixes the following issues:
    • An issue where enemy actions were not triggering correctly when encountering bosses under certain conditions;
    • An issue where the collision detection threshold could be crossed during boss encounters under certain conditions.
    • An issue where some character actions were not triggering correctly;
    • An issue where elite targets were not spawning under certain conditions;
    • An issue where elite targets were spawning in different locations than listed on the elite contracts board;
    • An issue where holding down the touchpad would bring up the local map when the wireless controller layout option was set to Type F;
    • An issue that prevented some weapons from being crafted in Final Fantasy mode, as the materials needed to craft them were not available in that mode;
    • A multilingual issue in which some Encyclopedia entries could not be found using the List by Keyword function;
    • An issue where game progress was not correctly carried over when transferring save data from the demo version to the full version;
    • Several minor text issues.

Naoki Yoshida, producer of the game, also shared a message that will delight more than one. To begin with, these are two extensions in the form of DLCs paying that the team has started to develop following feedback from players who want to see more Valisthea and its inhabitants. This follows one of his previous statements where he rightly said that there were no plans and that he would wait to see the game’s reception. Leviathan finally deigns to show itself other than at the turn of a single sentence throughout the game when it appears on the illustration of the collector. A clarification of the ending scene before the credits wouldn’t hurt either.

The other ad is for the formalization of a PC version, which therefore does exist. He had declared in May to GameInformer that it would be much longer than six months (the duration of the PS5 exclusivity) before we see or hear of such a thing, like what, it won’t have lasted that long. Finally, he hopes to talk to us about all this again by the end of the year.

Until then, you can still get Final Fantasy XVI on Amazon at a price of €64.22.
