The release of a new Final Fantasy is always an event, and Square-Enix necessarily scrutinizes its sales figures to gauge the interest of the first players. Final Fantasy XVIreleased on June 22, 2023 on PS5, has already attracted people, and the publisher has just communicated on its first results.
Thus, on its first 3 days of operation, i.e. until June 24, Final Fantasy XVI sold 3 million copies : to be exact, this figure combines copies shipped to the retailer and digital sales, but the actual physical sales to gamers are a bit less than that. It’s not a record Final Fantasy VII Remake having exceeded 3.5 million copies in circulation in its first 3 days, and Final Fantasy XV 5 million in its first week. But we must admit that the performance remains commendable, especially on a single console next gen to the limited park.
Despite some discrepancies, the very good critical reception should help increase sales in the months to come. Besides, Final Fantasy XVI is available from €68.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
