The developers obviously follow the reactions of online players carefully. Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of MMORPGs Final Fantasy XIV, obviously does it regularly, and the whole community is delighted to interact with him. The Japanese also produced Final Fantasy XVIbut the feeling is different.
As reported Eurogamera documentary dedicated to Naoki Yoshida was broadcast in Japan and the streamer Audrey (@aitaikimochi) translated some passages on social networksnotably a small segment where the producer admits his fed up with trolls :
There are a lot of people yelling at you, people I’ve never seen, met or talked to before. It’s weird. What have we done to them? Maybe they’re just writing it from a place of negativity and nastiness. It’s tiring.
While there are obviously negative criticisms to be made to Final Fantasy XVIas with all video games, the troll way is never the right way to be heardespecially since Naoki Yoshida has already proven his open-mindedness during discussions concerning Final Fantasy XIV. At any rate, the players were there, FFXVI quickly reached three million copies sold on PlayStation 5 and you can find the RPG of Square-Enix To €64.52 on Amazon.
