A motherboard AM5 which is not yet available in France, but it will not be long. Fingers crossed.

Efficient and designed to last, the AM5 platform nevertheless suffers from a problem that has clearly penalized AMD since the release of the first Ryzen 7000s last September: its price.

Soon in Europe?

Compared to the old AM4, the AM5 platform supports various new technologies including PCI Express 5.0 or DDR5. Interesting novelties, but which increase the price of motherboards.

Aware of the problem, AMD reacted quickly in the fall of 2022 by lowering the price of its AM5 processors, the four Ryzen 7000Xs already on the market. In the process, the brand had promised the release of motherboards at 125 dollars or less, “ shortly “.

Unfortunately for users interested in the Ryzen 7000s, the weeks were able to pass without seeing anything coming and even the cheapest AM5 motherboards remained stuck around 200 euros.

Not PCIe 5.0 for graphics card

However, things finally seem to be moving in the right direction. The ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard is actually trading for $124.99 right now on the other side of the Atlantic.

The price is inclusive of taxes and still only concerns the Newegg reseller – in the United States – but it is still good news. While this specific model is not yet available in France, we hope that its release will not take too long and that it will already allow it to drop below the 150 euro mark.

Remember that the B650 chipset was launched by AMD precisely to lower the entry ticket for the AM5 platform. Also remember that on the ASRock motherboard, there is no question of PCI Express 5.0 for the main x16 port, but that PCIe Gen 5 remains relevant on the SSD side.
