Let it be said, the Steam mobile application is beginning to seriously show the weight of the years. Valve has understood this, and a new version is about to land in a handful of weeks.

A beta was recently launched by the American firm… And the changes are numerous!

A nice dusting

Like many services and / or online stores dedicated to video games, Steam has its own mobile application, on iOS as Android. Alas, it turns out to be impractical to use. Its design is starting to date, and the features available remain relatively limited.

Well aware of these shortcomings, Valve decided to roll out a new Steam app. For now, only a beta version has been released. To be able to participate, it is necessary to become a “tester” by registering at this address. Other users will have the opportunity to try the app in the near future. This week, the American firm made a first point on the new elements introduced in this closed beta.

More than just a brush stroke

As you might expect, the Steam mobile app gets a completely revamped look. The aging design of the 2015 version is finally a thing of the past! Login via a simple QR Code has also been added, as has multi-account support. The notification system also benefits from some improvements, and the library has undergone a real overhaul.

In addition, all elements of the old application have been maintained. The user can browse the store, make trades and get codes through Steam Guard. In short, nothing revolutionary for the moment, but we will undoubtedly appreciate these developments. However, we do not know when this app will be available for download by the general public.

Steam

  • An essential service for any PC gamer
  • A pleasant social network side
  • Voice chat that does the job

Steam is unquestionably one of the must-have software for any PC gamer. A leader in the field of the sale of dematerialized games, the Valve platform also allows its users to take advantage of features that have become inherent in the practice of online video games, including voice and text chat. In other words, Steam allows everything to be combined in one software: the social aspect and communication between friends, but also the direct proxy of the games. An all-in-one that has been successful at Valve for almost a decade.
