The latest generation of graphics cards NVIDIA is more compact, but does not yet have a low profile model.

With each generation of graphics cards, it’s a bit the same story: the first models marketed are monsters of power certainly, but also of size, and you have to wait several months to discover reduced cards.

Three RTX 4060s under 17 centimeters

While we were obviously not expecting a “compact” model for the RTX 4090, RTX 4080 or even RTX 4070 Ti, it was not excluded that some of NVIDIA’s partners would embark on miniaturization with the release of the RTX 4070. Bon ben in fact, rather missed as a “forecast”.

In reality, it will only be with the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti that the first compact models will be marketed, and even then, not for everyone and not on all versions. Thus, Colorful, Inno3D and Zotac are only considering mini-ITX cards on the less powerful 4060.

For Colorful, it will be the RTX 4060 Mini-V, a card with a length of 17 centimeters which incorporates a single fan and occupies two PCI Express slots. At Zotac, the Solo seems to have the same dimensions, but we don’t have the detailed specifications.

Finally, Inno3D makes it even smaller with its RTX 4060 Compact: it measures 155 x 122 x 39 mm and occupies two PCIe slots. Its GPU is clocked at 1830/2460 MHz, and the card has, probably like the others, a single 8-pin power connector.

Gainward and Palit on the compact RTX 4060 Ti

Alongside these three RTX 4060-based models, two manufacturers have decided to try the adventure with the RTX 4060 Ti. The differences between the two GPUs not being huge, it even seemed the most logical choice.

With its Pegasus Series, Gainward is even launching two mini-ITX cards, under 17 centimeters in length. In both cases, it is only a question of a single fan, a single 8-pin power connector and a TDP of 160 Watts. The only difference lies in the boost frequencies: 2.5 GHz for the first (NVIDIA specifications) and 2.67 GHz for the second.

The StormX series from Palit is actually a clone of the Gainward solutions. In fact, the dimensions and specifications are identical. We can thus count on two models with slightly different boost frequencies. To distinguish the two brands, you have to take a look at the plastic shell that coats the cards, where the design is not the same.

Finally, it is worth noting that manufacturers as important as ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI or PNY have not yet announced any mini-ITX model. It is however possible that the catalogs presented are not yet complete and that new references arrive before the summer.
