Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally (RN) was the guest of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1 / Cnews / Les Echos. The young deputy returned to the victory of the LFI deputy, Éric Coquerel, at the head of the Finance Committee at the National Assembly. For Jordan Bardella, there was “a tacit agreement between the different political parties to rule out the RN”.

His seat was prized by the National Rally and the Nupes, the alliance of left-wing parties. And it was finally the deputy LFI-Nupes Éric Coquerel who obtained, Thursday, the presidency of the very powerful Finance Committee in the National Assembly, against the deputy RN of the Somme, Jean-Philippe Tanguy.

“Tacit agreement”

“Since 2007, there has been a Republican tradition that the chairman of the Finance Commission, which controls the state budget, returns to the first opposition group in the National Assembly. However, with 89 deputies, the National Rally is the first opposition group,” says Jordan Bardella. Opposite, if the Nupes has 133 seats, in detail, the largest political party within the alliance is that of La France insoumise, with 75 deputies.

For the MEP, “there was a tacit agreement between the different political parties, which does not say its name, to dismiss the RN” from the presidency of the Finance Committee. “It is extremely surprising and I regret that the Republican deputies are clearly more afraid of Sandrine Rousseau’s opinion than that of their constituents.”

“The RN is not a second-class party”

If the National Rally did not obtain the head of the Finance Commission, the party obtains two vice-presidencies of the National Assembly. A first victory for Jordan Bardella who believes “that the Republican front, set up to prevent the RN from accessing the National Assembly, has fallen.”

“I’m just saying that the National Rally is not a second-class party, that our voters are not second-class citizens and that we have the right (to have positions, editor’s note), and that the people entered to the National Assembly”, he assures on the set of the Grand Rendez-vous.
