Financial nightmare – Man lost his entire savings on the way to the bank

A 44-year-old wanted to put the family’s entire savings into the bank. But the five-figure amount was lost on the way to the financial institution. So far no honest finder has been found.

A 44-year-old in Bruck an der Leitha experienced a financial drama. The man wanted to deposit his family’s savings, worth a small new car, into the account. He carried the money with him in an envelope. But this should never reach the bank. The Weinviertler had previously picked up the offspring from a childcare center. On the way back to the car he discovered that the envelope had been lost. Although everything was searched immediately, the bundle of money never turned up. The next step for the 44-year-old was to go to the police and file a report. There is no doubt about the man’s version: “There would be no reason to invent such a loss. It is not covered by any insurance.” Scammers raise a “counterfeit money alarm.” Meanwhile, scammers are targeting their victims’ money with a scam that is currently being frequently reported in the Bruck an der Leitha district. They pretend to be bank employees over the phone and point out that counterfeit money has appeared at the branch. To make sure that this has not gone into circulation, someone would come by and inspect the cash on site. The investigation is ongoing.
