Fire in Lankowitz – neighbor sounded the alarm and became a lifesaver

On Monday evening, shortly after 7 p.m., the Maria Lankowitz and Köflach fire brigades, the Red Cross and the police were alerted to a presumably room fire, unclear whether someone was still in the apartment, in Maria Lankowitz.

A neighbor noticed the beeping of a smoke alarm, noticed a burning smell and immediately notified the emergency services. After the first emergency services arrived, the apartment door was opened violently and a respiratory protection team searched the smoky apartment. A person was rescued and handed over to the present Red Cross. The cause of the smoke development was burnt food, this was removed and the apartment was then ventilated. It has been shown once again that smoke alarms save lives. The mission was over after a good hour.
