Fire in Salzburg – Little Emil (4) became a big hero

The little boy was the first to smell that there was a fire in the neighbors’ apartment on Monday – the “Krone” reported. Together with his dad, he raised the alarm and thus prevented a catastrophe.

The residents of a residential building in St. Martin am Tennengebirge have Emil’s nose to thank for the fact that they still have a roof over their heads. The boy came home from the pediatrician with his father shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday when he noticed the smell of burning: “Dad, Dad, it’s burning!” Thank God, no one was at home. Almir Hadzalic and the four-year-old, who was tormented by an ear infection, were just there got out of the car. Father Almir also saw smoke and picked up the phone. “I immediately called the fire department. Then I went into the house and wanted to inform the neighbors and other residents,” said the father of three. Thank God no one was at home in the apartment where a dryer in the bathroom had started to burn. Even a big fan of the fire department. While his dad was still inside, the sick boy waited in the cold outside the apartment building. The St. Martin fire department was there in a few minutes, opened the window to the bathroom from the outside and put out the fire. Emil watched from his dad’s arm, spellbound. The boy, like many his age, is a big fire department fan. The Hadzalic’ have been living in St. Martin for almost four years. The family with Bosnian roots is well integrated. Emil’s big sisters go to school, the boy goes to kindergarten. The neighbors helped when we moved in, now they want to help. “I immediately offered that the neighbors could shower and do their laundry with us after the fire,” says Hadzalic – and he means it.
