Spectacular operation in the Viktring district of Klagenfurt: A hedge was on fire – the adjacent residential building had to be evacuated.
“Apartment fire in Viktring” – that was the alarm message on Tuesday afternoon in Klagenfurt. Fortunately, this information ultimately turned out to be false, even though the Florianis from the Klagenfurt professional fire department and the Viktring-Stein/Neudorf volunteer fire department still had their hands full: A meter-high hedge was in flames. Flames threatened to spread and the fire threatened to spread to the fire to encroach on the facade. While the emergency services launched the fire-fighting attack, the adjacent residential building was evacuated as a precaution – and residents were instructed to keep their windows closed. In the end, the fire was put out relatively quickly. How the fire started is still unclear.
