On Thursday, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne and Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin traveled to Gironde, near Landiras, where a resumption of the gigantic fire has already ravaged nearly 7,500 hectares, a few weeks after a first devastating fire . Thursday morning, under a blazing sun, Elisabeth Borne first greeted the local elected officials and among them Ghislaine Charles, the mayor of Saint-Magne, a town heavily affected by the fires. Europe 1 followed this ministerial trip.
The mayor of the town took advantage of this visit to implore the Prime Minister. “I promised myself to ask you, please, for air resources. They have so much ability to set fire with helicopters, it’s great. We need more,” she told Elisabeth Borne. Who does not budge: according to her, everything is done to fight the fires.

“We have never mobilized so many resources,” proclaims the Prime Minister. “We will continue to strengthen. The President of the Republic, when he came at the end of July, announced that we were going to strengthen our means of intervention. Since then, we have gone from two water bomber helicopters to nine today. today, and by the end of the week, eleven water bomber helicopters”, details Elisabeth Borne.
In addition to these air assets, there is European solidarity since two Greek Canadairs, Swedish planes and also firefighters from Germany and Romania arrive in Gironde on Thursday evening. Precisely, 361 firefighters and 100 vehicles are expected in the evening.
