An essential soap with record longevity, Les Feux de l’Amour is currently in its forty-fifth (!) season, broadcast in France on TF1.

Among the key characters of the soap opera, one of them, Phyllis, had been absent for several days, causing the concern of those close to her. Since the departure of its original interpreter, Michelle Stafford, in 2013, the role of Phyllis had been entrusted to another actress, Gina Tognoni, who held it from 2014.

But in 2019, surprise: the production of the series decided to thank Gina Tognoni because she wanted to encourage her predecessor to take over the role of Phyllis following the non-renewal of her contract on the soap opera General Hospital, which she had joined after his departure from the Fires of Love.

In a desire to give the series back its letters of nobility by recalling one of its leading actresses to the cast, the production therefore ousted Gina Tognoni that year, which explains why the actress is absent from the episodes in progress. broadcast on TF1 because the soap is broadcast three years later than in the United States.

So don’t be surprised to see Phyllis reappear in the guise of her initial actress, now back for good since she is still in the cast to this day on the other side of the Atlantic. The replacements of performers are commonplace in soaps, but a former actress returning to play her character after it has been recast is undoubtedly a first in the history of soap operas!
