Nuremberg’s Krauss approachable after a horror crash

Again and again the head. It was not until Monday that Felix Götze was injured in the Duisburg game against Kaiserslautern and now Nürnberg’s Tom Krauss remains motionless on the pitch after a collision. His coach gave the first all-clear that night.

1. FC Nürnberg gave the first all-clear after the shock to midfielder Tom Krauss. “We are in contact with Tom, he is approachable,” reported coach Robert Klauss after being out of the DFB Cup on Tuesday evening against Hamburger SV. He sent “thumbs up” from the hospital.

Krauss had crashed with Miro Muheim just seconds after the start of the second half and initially lay motionless. Referee Bastian Dankert immediately waved to the supervisors and paramedics, the players formed a privacy screen. Krauss was then transported away on a stretcher.

According to his Nuremberg trainer, it looks like a severe concussion. “It was a moment of shock for the players who stood around it,” reported Klauss, who ran onto the grass to meet his injured player. Krauss then followed the rest of the second round game in the hospital. The 20-year-old will be examined further there.

Hamburger SV also suffered an injured party in the 4-2 penalty shoot-out. The long-time “Club” left-back Tim Leibold was whistled for every action and then injured himself in a duel on the sidelines with Krauss on his right knee. The 27-year-old had to be treated for minutes and was brought into the stadium interior on a stretcher in the 22nd minute with his hands clapped in front of his face.

Leibold is in the cabin, reported coach Tim Walter shortly after midnight. “He’s actually happy for us.” One would have to wait and see what an exact diagnosis would result, said Walter. There will be further investigations at Leibold.
