WASHINGTON, Dec 19 (Reuters) – American company Blue Origin, founded by Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, fired its first New Shepard rocket on Tuesday since an accident 15 months ago, according to a live broadcast from the event.
The suborbital rocket took off from the Van Horn Site, Texas, and climbed to 66 miles (106 km) high to deploy scientific research probes before its booster returned to land intact a few minutes later.
Last year, the rocket’s propulsion stage exploded in flight, without causing any casualties, leading to a suspension of the program.
