The Smallest Circus in the World, in Bagneux (Hauts-de-Seine)

In the activity room of the World's Smallest Circus.

Designed by architect Patrick Bouchain in 2015, Le Petit Cirque du monde (PPCM), in Bagneux, is actually quite imposing. This is because, when it was created, thirty years ago, the circus school was held in a small gymnasium, only on Sunday mornings, explains its director, Eleftérios Kechagioglou. Now included in the building, the original gymnasium serves as an activity room for children on Wednesdays.

A former Sciences Po graduate who fell into the circus at the age of 25, Eleftérios Kechagioglou has been leading the PPCM for more than fifteen years. It is an open place, with a café, in the heart of the priority area of the city’s policy. “Every week, between 1,500 and 2,000 children come here, either with their school, or with IMEs, or for lessons, free or paid”he explains.

From the age of 3, children discover the “Circomotricity”Who allows them to work on gross or fine motor skills by using the circus in a playful way. “The circus teaches confidence, to control the risk by practicing active safety, to work on the body. It’s a school of life, where there is no competition: we need each other.recalls the director of the PPCM. So many great concepts to discover during the 4 or 5-day courses offered during the spring holidays: two hours in the morning for 4-6 year olds to work on circomotricity, and a day for 7-14 year olds for an approach multidisciplinary.
