The year 2023 is barely looming when we are already starting to talk more and more about the iPhone 15, and in particular the iPhone 15 Pro. As in 2022, Apple would seek to clearly mark the difference between the classic models and the Pro models in order to encourage its customers as much as possible to turn to the more sophisticated – and more expensive – models.

This is why the specialized site MacRumors takes a step back to already draw up a list of five exclusive functions of the iPhone 15 Pro allowing this version to stand out from the classic model. This list has been compiled from rumors from credible sources and already gives a small idea of what awaits us on the next generation.

The five exclusive functions of the iPhone 15 Pro

Here is what we should find on the iPhone 15 Pro.

The A17 Bionic chip

For the second year in a row, the Pro version would be the only one to take advantage of Apple’s latest chip in order to gain performance and energy efficiency. The iPhone 15 Pro should therefore inherit the A17 Bionic SoC engraved in 3 nm while the classic iPhone 15 would taste the A16.

A faster USB-C port

The arrival of USB-C on iPhone is causing a stir. Apple has until 2024 to get rid of the Lightning connector on its smartphones, but would take the plunge in 2023. And the apple would not stop there since the USB-C port of the iPhone 15 Pro would not do things halfway. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, expect speeds at least as high as those of USB 3.2 or even Thunderbolt 3, i.e. 20 to 40 Gb/s.

The iPhone 15 could therefore put this asset forward to seduce creators and content creators. In addition, with a bit of optimism, we can also hope for an improved charging speed.

More RAM

The iPhone 15 Pro would benefit from an increase in the amount of RAM to reach 8 GB of RAM. This should improve the management of applications in the background and, consequently, offer a better impression of fluidity in use than the classic models which should remain at around 6 GB of RAM.

No mechanical buttons

No mechanical buttons to be expected on the iPhone 15 Pro. On the most high-end models of Apple, it would not be possible to press the volume and unlock keys. Instead, the devices would have haptic motors to interact with the pressure exerted by the finger. We imagine that the goal is to avoid potential malfunctions of these buttons in the long term.

A 10x telephoto lens

MacRumors once again quotes Ming-Chi Kuo who predicts the integration of a periscopic telephoto lens on the iPhone 15 Pro. The track of a x10 optical zoom is mentioned.

So there you have it for the five points identified so far to differentiate the iPhone 15 Pro. In addition, let’s not forget that, on this generation, the Pro Max version should be called iPhone 15 Ultra. Finally, for the moment, Apple has its work cut out to ensure good sales of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro during the holiday season despite some supply problems.

All iPhone 15 should benefit from the flagship novelty of the iPhone 14 Pro

Apple may well make more changes to its next iPhone by offering the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max “pill” on all iPhone 15s. However, no Always mode…
