Five highly sought-after positions of responsibility in 2023


HR, finance or supply chain: specialized skills are in the line of sight of companies.

The skills shortage that affects many companies also affects management positions. Recruitment firm Robert Walters has listed five of the most in-demand senior positions. Functions for which employers are ready to make a significant financial effort, with increases of 10 to 20% in 2023.

Director of Operations

The holder of this position often relies on twenty years of experience. He must have previously managed teams and sites. Under his responsibility, several installations for a perimeter ranging from a hundred people in SMEs to several hundred for larger structures. Fluency in English is almost always required to work with customers/suppliers established abroad. The culture of results, the ability to take a step back and proximity to the field are all inherent assets of an operations manager. Remuneration, which can increase very quickly depending on the size of the company, fluctuates between 120 and 140 KE for a first appointment.

HR Manager

Knowledge of HR tools, appetite for digital, pedagogy, operational sense, emotional intelligence… The qualities required of a human resources manager are numerous, in addition to an experience of around ten years. Since the pandemic, HR are often represented in the staffs, with a presence in the “comex”. The remuneration of operational HRBP (Human Resources Business Partners), which is around 70 KE (excluding variable), could increase by 15% in 2023, or even 20% on the occasion of a change of company.

Director of industrial management control

Seven years of minimum experience for this type of profile, whose knowledge of industrial management control is also based on a perfect mastery of information systems. The business is becoming more and more international, due to the distribution of sites in different countries. In 2023, remuneration may exceed 105 KE against approximately 85-90 in previous years.

Supply Chain Director

In this position, the ability to interact at all levels of the company is essential. Flow management has become complex and requires organizational, digital and strategic management. With fifteen years of experience, the targeted profiles have held both management positions in the supply chain (on a regional or global scope) as well as positions with operational responsibility. Depending on the scope, management ranges from 20 to 200 people. Salary expectations around 150 KE are becoming the norm for experienced profiles.

Financial director

Among the skills required, experience in external auditing, accounting knowledge and knowledge of IFRS standards are essential, in addition to fluent English. The force of proposal and conviction, the spirit of synthesis or the interpersonal skills complete the pedigree, for a salary which can jump to 150 KE for the directors covering a large perimeter, requiring the management of a substantial team (more of 20 employees).
