Five ideas for a trip with friends

THE MORNING LIST

Eating marshmallows by the fire in the Pyrenees, exploring the museums (or bars) of Montpellier, playing The cruise has fun in the Lot… So many ideas for a weekend with friends, to brighten up autumn and winter, or anticipate the spring holidays.

In a cozy chalet, in the heart of the Ossau valley

Around forty colorful chalets lined up on a ridge, looking out over the Ossau valley in the Pyrenees. Iskö Basecamp is a strange village, like something out of an Andersen tale. An ideal place for large groups of friends, since you can rent several chalets side by side. The very cozy Family Lodge, for example, can accommodate up to six people in three spacious bedrooms and offers a splendid view of the mountains, snow-covered or not. On the panoramic terrace, you can enjoy the sun before taking refuge around the fireplace. After, of your choice, a snowshoe walk in the Pyrenees national park, a hike to observe griffon vultures, a ski trip to the resorts of Gourette and Artouste, the troop can meet at the village’s locavore restaurant, at the pop colors, to taste Bigorre ham, Ossau cheeses or Pyrenees trout in gravlax.

In a chic barn, in Sologne

La Grange de Léonie, with its three guest rooms, was designed as a family home.

Wake up in the heart of the Berry countryside, look out the window and be greeted by the two donkeys who live in this large 2-hectare wooded park. La Grange de Léonie, in Méry-sur-Cher, looks like the family home we would like to have. Otherwise, you feel at home there for a weekend with a group. La Grange and its three pretty bedrooms can accommodate up to eight people, L’Ecurie between four and five. Inside, nothing in the decor has been left to chance: solid oak, Sologne tiles, Burgundy stone, cozy sofas and kitchen with its local wine cellar. On sunny days, you will want to spend your days around the swimming pool and the two spas; if the weather is not suitable, we will visit Bourges, nearby, cycle along the Berry canal, fish in the Sologne ponds… unless you prefer to read a good novel in the warmth, with a soothing view. In the evening, if everyone is too lazy to cook, we will order platters of charcuterie and cheese, and jars of producers which we will enjoy with friends around the large table at La Grange.

Léonie’s BarnMéry-sur-Cher, L’Ecurie from 180 euros per night for 4/5 people, La Grange from 340 euros per night for 8 people, double or triple room from 100 euros per night.
