The TV stations are reacting to the still tense situation in the flood areas and have announced further special programs.

The environmental catastrophe in some regions of Germany caused great damage, and the situation is still dire in many places. On this Sunday (July 18) and the following Monday, a number of special TV programs will provide information about the latest developments.

“Brennpunkt” and “ZDF Spezial”

On Sunday evening, Das Erste will report from the flood areas in a “hot spot” from 8:15 pm. Christian Nitsche (49) will moderate the broadcast for which BR is responsible. It also looks at the situation in southeast Bavaria and the neighboring Salzburger Land in Austria. The following programs are postponed by about 15 minutes.

This Sunday, the ZDF shows the report “The flood disaster – Together against the flood” (5:55 pm to 6:25 pm). Another “ZDF Special” will follow in the later program from 7:10 pm to 7:25 pm, in which the current situation on site will be reported.

In addition, the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Armin Laschet (60, CDU), will address the citizens in a five-minute address on Sunday at 7:55 pm. The speech of the Chancellor candidate was recorded in advance and will be shown before the “Tagesschau” on WDR.

RTL changes TV program

RTL has announced an extended “RTL Aktuell” edition until 7:25 pm for Sunday. Maik Meuser (45) reports on the critical situation in the flood areas and on the visit by Chancellor Angela Merkel (67, CDU) to affected communities in Rhineland-Palatinate. The RTL weather expert Bernd Fuchs (49) will be a guest in the studio.

The broadcaster also announced the “RTL Aktuell Special: The Flood of the Century” with Peter Kloeppel (62) for Monday, July 19, which is intended to provide information about the latest developments and the current situation on site. The programs “Guten Morgen Deutschland” and “Punkt 12” will also be extended on Monday to 9 am and 4 pm, respectively.
