Basically, the LED on the front of the Ring camera lights up continuously when the camera is active and recording. However, if the LED flashes blue, it may indicate a firmware update. Once the update has been successfully completed, the LED will turn off by itself. Even when the camera is starting up, the light glows blue. However, the lighting cannot be switched off completely, so you have to resort to banal measures – a piece of duct tape or black sharpie can help make the LED invisible.

The Ring doorbells and video cameras only become truly smart in combination with one Ring Protect subscription. This is available from 3.99 euros per month or 39.99 euros as an annual subscription and can be tested for 30 days when purchasing corresponding products.
