Following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s quarterly video game revenues up 49%

Microsoft has shared its financial results for the last quarter of 2023. A period which is very important since it corresponds to the arrival of Activision Blizzard in its ranks.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard had a serious impact on the company’s financial results. Thus, Microsoft’s video game revenues increased by almost 49% compared to the equivalent quarter of the previous fiscal year. Note that without the presence of Activision Blizzard, the growth of the video game section would have only been 5%.

The company is also seeing a 61% increase in revenue from Xbox content and services, which of course includes money generated from Game Pass. Finally, it should be noted that the sale of hardware, particularly consoles, is also up 3%.

Figures shared by Microsoft show that video games are now the company’s third largest activity with revenue of more than $7.1 billion between October and December 2023, of which $2.1 billion is attributable to Activision Blizzard.

Very good results therefore, revealed barely a week after the announcement of the layoff of nearly 1,900 employees, including a majority at Activision Blizzard.
