Four minors will be presented to a judge on Saturday December 16 in Lyon, following the broadcast of a video showing a teenage girl severely beaten and the brother of one of the suspects, a minor, was placed in police custody after a complaint for rape filed by the victim, the prosecution announced to Agence France-Presse.
“The four minors placed in police custody on December 15 are presented today to a children’s judge. They are being prosecuted for aggravated violence” for acts committed on October 10, declared the Lyon prosecutor’s office, specifying that they are between 14 and 16 years old.
“These acts were allegedly committed following a complaint of rape filed by the victim against the brother of one of the teenage girls suspected of having committed the violence”according to the same source. “Investigations concerning the acts of rape are underway and the minor accused is currently in police custody. »
A viral video
On Thursday, a video showing a teenager being beaten by young girls quickly went viral on social networks such as X or Facebook, relayed by far-right sites. We see in the images the teenager being hit successively by two people for almost a minute, receiving slaps, knee blows and being dragged to the ground, pulled by her hair. “Talk again about my brother”threatens one of the attackers, while two others film the scene.
The regional prefecture immediately called not to broadcast this video “out of respect for the victim” and the images had been reported on the Pharos platform, the portal for reporting illegal content on the Internet, said the national police on.
According to the newspaper Progress, the first suspect, aged 13, presented herself to the police station saying she had received death threats after the video was broadcast. She was then taken into custody on Friday along with three other teenage girls.
