Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed which song was inspired by the death of the singer of the previous band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain.
The rock band Foo Fighters was formed in 1994 after the death of Nirvana frontman (1987-1994) Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) from parts of the remaining band members. In the cover story of the music magazine “Rolling Stone” The former Nirvana drummer and today’s Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl (52) now reveals that a song by the follow-up band was actually inspired by Kurt Cobain’s death.
“Walk” from 2011 was the last track on the number one album “Wasting Light”.
“I am allowed to wake up and he is not”
“The song is from the day after Kurt’s death,” continues Grohl. “When I woke up that morning and realized, ‘Oh, shit, he’s not there anymore. But I. I’m allowed to wake up and he isn’t. I’ll make myself a cup of coffee. And he can’t. I turn on the radio. And he doesn’t. ‘ That was a big challenge for me, “the US artist remembers that morning on April 6, 1994. Cobain had committed suicide the day before when he was only 27 years old.
“There are situations in life in which you believe that there is no way out of the crisis,” continues Dave Grohl in the interview. “But if you can see the crisis as a small point of light on your radar, it’s easier to get out of it. And yeah, I just thought, ‘I don’t want anyone to have this feeling that I have this morning would have.”
In the song Grohl proclaims “I never want to die”, in an interview he confirms: “I’m serious. I don’t fucking want to die. I know that it is inevitable but I don’t want it. That would be so boring. ” He will fight it for as long as he can.
