Approached by Newcastle, Ousmane Dembélé should extend with FC Barcelona
The Ousmane Dembélé soap opera continues. While his contract comes to an end at the end of the season, the French international has still not extended with FC Barcelona despite long weeks of negotiations. A contractual situation which pushed one of his courtiers, Newcastle, to approach him. Penultimate in the Premier League, the Magpies, and their new Saudi owners, are looking to strengthen themselves this winter to stay in the first division. However, as Fabrizio Romano reveals, Blaugrana leaders are said to be optimistic about the possibility of reaching an agreement on the striker’s contract extension in the coming days. Xavi Hernandez, the new Barcelona coach, would notably pressure to keep the ex-Rennais. 24-year-old Ousmane Dembélé joined Catalonia in the summer of 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for an amount of € 135 million.
