After a six-month hiatus, the Ukrainian football championship was back on Tuesday.
After a six-month hiatus, the Ukrainian football championship was back on Tuesday. Shakhtar Donetsk, leaders of the championship before the shutdown decreed last season, started the season against Metalist Kharkiv at the Olympic stadium in kyiv, without any spectators. Before kick-off, the national anthem was intensely experienced by the players, Ukrainian flag on their shoulders. A message from the President, Volodymyr Zelensky, was also broadcast.
It was a fighter from the Azov regiment, the Ukrainian national guard, who kicked off this meeting which ended in a draw (0-0). All the matches of the Ukrainian championship will be played without any spectators. And all stadiums have an air-raid shelter. Matches will be interrupted if the sirens sound.
