Football in streaming: on which channels to watch the matches of the 2021/2022 season?

Ligue 1, Premier League, La Liga, Champions League… It is very easy to watch football in legal streaming today. But things get complicated when you look at the program of the different channels, all paying. We take stock.

The 2020/2021 football season had been turned upside down by the coronavirus pandemic. While we are gradually witnessing a return to normal, a vagueness surrounds the 2021/2022 financial year concerning the broadcasting of matches of the French Championship. After the Téléfoot debacle, which quickly displayed a black screen, a new player entered the market: Amazon, which will launch – on a date still unknown – a dedicated channel from its SVOD platform for 8 of the 10 matches each day. .

In fact, it is still very complicated to follow football in streaming, since it is necessary to multiply subscriptions so as not to miss anything of your favorite sport. As a bonus, the Téléfoot case law, a channel launched with great ambitions, does not encourage optimism: overnight, a service can disappear. This complete guide will help you better understand the football offer, split between several broadcasters, according to the different competitions.

League 1

A blur surrounds part of Ligue 1. Indeed, the LFP chose Amazon for the lot formerly awarded to Mediapro (Téléfoot) and which Canal+ had recovered in disaster until the end of last season. Today, we are sure of only one thing: Amazon will broadcast 8 of the 10 matches each weekend, starting Friday, August 6. The last two (Saturday 9 p.m., Sunday 5 p.m.) should normally be offered on Canal+ (which first announced its withdrawal).

According to the latest information from RMC Sport published on July 27, the two matches in question should indeed be broadcast on Canal +, but from the second day (weekend of August 14). beIN Sports would then take over for the start of Ligue 1. In the end, nothing will happen: as announced by L’Équipe on August 6, the two matches of the first day will be on Canal+ Sport.

Note that the Prime Video Ligue 1 channel will start broadcasting on Sunday August 1, on the occasion of the Trophée des Champions which will oppose PSG and Lille. This match will be accessible to all Prime subscribers, the LFP confirmed in a press release.

Amateurs and amateurs of Ligue 2? We must turn, there too, to Amazon Prime Video Ligue 1. Small subtlety however: the giant has signed a partnership with L’Équipe for the broadcasting of the 8 matches it has. Throughout the season, L’Équipe will offer the multiplex unencrypted on its TNT channel. Until September, the 8 live matches will also be available individually on the Live Team (website and app). Amazon Prime Video will then take over.

For the other two matches, go to beIN Sports.

Note that RMC has signed a partnership with the Canal Group to co-broadcast the two best posters each week. The information was confirmed on July 30.

Hang on, because the Europa League is shared between… several players! On the one hand, there is the Canal + / beIN Sports / M6 / W9 quartet which will offer the best poster. On the other, we find RMC Sport, which will offer no less than 266 matches throughout the season. This volume also includes the matches of the new European competition: the Europa Conference League.

The Premier League has returned to the Canal+ flag since the 2019/2020 season. However, the group has reached an agreement with Altice so that the English championship is also broadcast on RMC Sport. So there are two ways to see Paul Pogba’s prowess at Manchester United.
