A meeting between the president of the French Football Federation and the coach of the Blues should take place in July, revealed L’Equipe on Saturday. After the failed campaign of the Blues in the League of Nations in June, Noël Le Gräet would like to speak with Didier Deschamps a few months before the World Cup-2022 in Qatar.
The president would thus have planned to invite “DD” for a day at his home in Guingamp in order to project himself on the meeting of the defending champions at the end of 2022.
“Full confidence” in Deschamps
“We have to see what we did well, what we did wrong and what we can improve. For me, it is necessary. There are still two matches left in September (France-Austria, the 22nd and Denmark-France, the 29th). We have to agree on the operation between these two meetings and the local organization when we are in Qatar, ”he explains to the sports daily.
Le Graët, however, claims to have “full confidence” in his coach, and reminded that his contract – which runs until the end of the year – will not be extended before the World Cup.
He nevertheless admits to having been disappointed by the last performances of the Blues. “We weren’t good, that’s for sure. You don’t have to tell stories. We did not show the face of world champions. Although I think the schedule hasn’t helped us,” he added.
