Football: Presnel Kimpembe package for Juventus-PSG, three weeks before the World Cup

The defender of Paris SG and the France team Presnel Kimpembe withdrew from the Juventus Turin-PSG match on Wednesday in the Champions League, due to “discomfort in the right Achilles tendon”, three weeks before the World Cup 2022, announced the Parisian club on Tuesday. The duration of the unavailability of the French defender was not specified, but the PSG was rather reassuring: “Following a blow, Presnel Kimpembe has discomfort in the right Achilles tendon and will remain in care at the center of training”, assures the champion club of France.

A first muscle injury to a thigh

Kimpembe, 27, had returned in recent days after seven weeks of absence due to a muscle injury to a thigh. He entered the game on Tuesday against Maccabi Haifa (7-2) before being established on Saturday in Ligue 1 against Troyes (4-3).

“He had a major injury, it was difficult the first few days for him on a mental level. But as soon as he came back on the pitch to work on the race, I saw a ‘Kim’ who was very focused, motivated, listening to his body so as not to skip the stages”, explained his trainer Christophe Galtier in recent days.

Uncertainty for the World Cup in Qatar

Kimpembe, for his part, had told the French broadcast Telefoot having feared for his participation in the World Cup with the Blues, whose list will be revealed on November 9: “Yes, I was afraid”, he confessed, “with all the matches that we chain, we ask ourselves the question right away is in the back of your mind”. He is one of the important players of the France team for the World Cup which begins on November 20 in Qatar. The Blues are already deprived of their midfield partner, Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté, both forfeited.

And they are watching for the return of the leader of their defense, Raphaël Varane, hit in the thigh. The Manchester United defender will not play again before the World Cup. PSG face Juventus in Turin on Wednesday (9 p.m.), with the first place in the group in the Champions League at stake, which the Portuguese Benfica are also aiming for.
