For a good fixed focal length at an affordable price, choose…

After presenting a series of superlative lenses, Canon reveals one of the cheapest fixed focal lengths on the market: the Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM. Is it as attractive for its performance as for its price (€229)? Answer in this test…

Canon gives us an excellent surprise with this RF 50mm F1.8 STM straight from the reflex world; the similarities with the EF 50 mm f/1.8 STM are sometimes unsettling. Of course, the quality of the maximum aperture is lower and we can also regret the absence of tropicalization. That being said, this little lens is very pleasant to use and positions itself as an excellent companion. Special mention to the configurable ring and especially to a very well controlled depth of field for fans of background blur.
