In season 4 of “For All Mankind,” the crew members had to deal with delicate missions on Mars. After another jump in time, the popular Apple TV+ continued in 2003, where the political situation on Earth and Mars was deeply tense.

After an asteroid heads for Mars and is secured, the USA and the Soviet Union argue over its earnings and resources. In addition, a strike and many intrigues on Mars cause further chaos among the employees. A fifth season of the drama series has now been confirmed, meaning the crew’s mission could continue into a whole new decade!

Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, along with series creators Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, said in a statement about the renewal of the fifth season of “For All Mankind”:

“With each new season, For All Mankind continues to build a fascinating world and capture a global audience through high-quality storytelling so skillfully crafted by Ron, Matt and Ben. There is so much to discover and we can’t wait “To dive into this next chapter of the compelling For All Mankind universe with our partners at Sony.”

If filming for season 5 begins early after the official extension, new episodes could be available on Apple TV+ Late 2025 or early 2026 be conceivable.

In an interview with the US website Den of Geek, the three series creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi have already commented on new episodes of “For All Mankind” and announced their future plans. Wolpert said the following:

“When we first launched the show, before the first season, we talked about this overarching story that would span about seven seasons. That’s our goal.”

For All Mankind: “Star City” spin-off

But not only a 5th season has now been commissioned, because the three showrunners will also be involved in the new spin-off “Star City”. The planned thriller series will also be about an alternative retelling of world history, but this time it will provide an insight into the lives of Soviet cosmonauts behind the Iron Curtain.

In the joint statement, Wolpert and Nedivi also commented on the extension of “For All Mankind” and the spin-off series “Star City” as follows:

“Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with each season of For All Mankind. […] The more we learned about this secret city in the woods outside Moscow where Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story from the other side of the space race. We couldn’t be more excited to continue to expand For All Mankind’s alternate history universe with our partners at Apple and Sony.”
