For Christmas and Hanouka, Gérald Darmanin wants police in front of every place of worship


The Minister of the Interior has sent a request to this effect to all the prefects of the country.

The Minister of the Interior sent instructions to the prefects, asking them to organize this police protection near places of worship for the Jewish holidays of Hanukkah, from December 18 to 26, and for the Christian holidays of Christmas, the night of December 24 for Catholics, Armenian Christmas on January 6, and Orthodox Christmas on January 7.

Each department prefect will now coordinate with those responsible for worship to assess the risks and adapt the number of police and gendarmes accordingly. They will have to pay attention to vehicles parked near places of worship, in order to avoid a car bomb attack, and ensure a “visible static presenceduring religious ceremonies at the end of the year.

This precision has even, according to Europe 1, been added by hand at the end of the letter sent by Beauvau. The staff of the municipal police and the Sentinel mission will also be called upon.
