Google has provided some details regarding the technical support and software of its watch PixelWatch.
The first connected watch signed Google will benefit from a total of three years (at least) of updates.
Three years of updates for the Pixel Watch
On the official page dedicated to its Pixel Watch, Google gives us some additional details about its very first connected watch. Thus, we learn in particular that the watch will benefit from at least three years of guaranteed updates, until October 2025.
The Google Pixel 6, the brand’s previous Pixel smartphones, are offered with no less than five years of Android updates guaranteed by the American giant. The Google Pixel Watch will have to settle for a shorter follow-up.
A still somewhat nebulous Wear OS
On its Support page, Google explains: The Google Pixel Watch receives updates for at least three years from the date the device was first made available on the Google Store in the United States “.
However, it is unclear whether Google provides security patches every month for the Pixel Watch. Ditto with regard to the major versions of WearOS, whose updates are not stalled on the rhythm of Android. On the side of Samsung, for example, the frequency of updates is quite irregular, the Korean giant having however promised four years of software support for its most recent watches.
Remember that the Pixel Watch is displayed in France from 379 euros. It is obviously powered by the latest version of the WearOS house software, version 3.5.
