There’s gonna be new blood soon in For Honor ! The developers have just formalized the next Hero which will be added to the experience as part of the Season 4 of the’Year 5, and it looks like nothing known. In fact, it does not belong to vikings nor to samurai nor to knights nor to Wu Lin, corn to Travelers, a new category that should introduce more diversity.
The first of its kind will be The Pirate, who wields a sword and a gun, a new weapon in For Honor. It will be available from January 27, 2022 on all platforms. If you want more information about the Travelers, the developers have made a FAQ about it.
Who are they ? Where do they come from ?
The Travelers are a group of heroes hailing from lands too far from Heathmoor to be known to most. They are not part of the traditional factions (Vikings, Samurai, Knights and Wu Lin).
They are free adventurers, free from any cultural ties with others. They fight for anyone who shows loyalty to them or pays them handsomely.
The Travelers are introduced in Update 2 of Year 5, Season 4 with the Pirate leading the way, ready to defend his spoils to the death.
Do Travelers have an emblem?
Yes, this new group has its own emblem, which you can admire below.
We started by adding items representing their mind orientation and common purpose, including a compass and a sextant.
Since they belong to the world of For Honor, we didn’t forget to add a dagger in the middle of the emblem.
All of these elements and colors come together to represent the itinerant and combative nature of the Voyageurs.
- Why are we adding this group to For Honor?
The arrival of the Travelers gives us the opportunity to expand the choice of cultures we have access to to create new heroes and in-game elements. It is a guarantee of diversity for For Honor, which will allow us to tell stories until That’s off topic for existing factions.
- Is this a new faction? How do they differ from other factions?
We don’t consider Travelers to be a traditional faction as, unlike Vikings, Samurai, Knights, and Wu Lin, they don’t have much in common culturally. This choice is deliberate, in order to give us more freedom for the future of the game. The Travelers will also not take part in the Faction War since they are adventurers who do not seek to establish themselves or conquer new lands.
- The Pirate, new hero of Y5S4, resembles Wu Lin by his culture. Why is he part of the Travelers and not the Wu Lin?
In our story, the Pirate hero will reshuffle the cards for the season and serve as a transition (or Trojan horse, if you prefer) to introduce the Travelers. These explorers and adventurers will bring the relics while establishing a link between Heathmoor and this new group of heroes…
- The Pirate seems to be descended from the Wu Lin. Will the other new heroes also descend from Vikings, Samurai, Knights or Wu Lin?
Not necessarily. Through Travelers, the aim is to add something new, to expand the choice of heroes and to add other cultures and backgrounds to Heathmoor.
Ubisoft has in passing formalized the holding ofa Year 6, whose theme will be Lost Horizons, and which will begin with a Season 1 the 17th of March. The new scenario will not necessarily be added chronologically and will revolve around the Relics, artefacts brought by the Travelers. 2 Travelers other than the Pirate will be integrated into For Honor in Season 2 and Season 4, while Heroic Skins will be brought from the Season 1. These are integral appearances specific to a Hero, which will be added one per season. The developers also want to continue to rebalance the gameplay and support the competitive scene.
