As February comes to an end and Windows 11 welcomes its last update of the month, Microsoft seems to want to force the installation of its antivirus.
Microsoft Defender, security wherever you are
Last June, Microsoft Defender landed on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. The opportunity for the American firm to offer a complementary application to Windows Defender. This new tool takes the form of a security dashboard that warns users in the event of a threat on their various devices (computers, smartphones and tablets).
Offering a standardized interface, Microsoft Defender allows you to keep an eye on the protection of your accounts from anywhere. If this application can therefore be very practical, and we already knew that it would be included in Microsoft 365, we did not know that its installation would be mandatory for subscribers to the service.
Automatic installation for Microsoft 365 customers
As our colleagues from Windows Latest, Microsoft Defender seems to install automatically with many Windows 10 and Windows 11 customers. An official note published by the Redmond firm indicates that the Microsoft Defender application will be automatically installed for Microsoft 365 members (without any control possible for users). Contrary to what we might have imagined, unfortunately this is not a bad mistake, but a decision by Microsoft.
According to the statements of the American giant, the Microsoft Defender application will be included in the Microsoft 365 installer from the end of February 2023 (i.e. in the next few hours).
