Before we get to the cocktail recipes – what mixing utensils do you need at home?

Matthias Knorr: For a perfect cocktail experience, a complete set with a shaker, bar spoon, strainer and jigger is essential. You need fresh ingredients, ice cubes and suitable glasses.

Which cocktail definitely needs to be on your table on New Year’s Eve?

Knorr: For festive occasions we recommend the “Hugo Rosé” with 2 cl elderberry syrup, 2 cl lime, Prosecco rosé, ice cubes and mint as a garnish. Pour the elderberry syrup into a wine glass, top up with Prosecco rosé, add ice cubes, stir gently and garnish with fresh mint.

What drinks do you recommend for a New Year’s party with guests?

Knorr: The magical “Sloe Magic Sour” with 5 cl sloe gin, 3 cl lemon juice, 2 cl cane sugar syrup, around 10 crushed blueberries, 2 to 3 dashes of fee foam or egg white, ice cubes, lemon and blueberries for garnish. Mix all ingredients vigorously in a shaker, pour into a tumbler over ice and strain through a fine sieve. Garnish with lemon slices and blueberries.

Which cocktail suits a cozy New Year’s Eve?

Knorr: The exotic blend of the “Vanilla Chai Mule” is a delight. Garnish with 4 cl cognac, 1 cl chai syrup, 1 cl lime juice, ginger beer, ice cubes and a slice of lime. Pour cognac, chai syrup and lime juice into a mule cup, fill with ice and top with ginger beer. Stir gently and garnish with a lime wedge.

Which non-alcoholic option is recommended for New Year’s Eve this year?

Knorr: We recommend the “Fire Sprizz” with 1.5 cl cinnamon syrup, 1.5 cl lime juice, 50 percent ginger beer, 50 percent prosecco, ice cubes and fresh rosemary for garnish. Pour cinnamon syrup and lime juice into a wine glass, top with ginger beer and prosecco, add ice cubes, stir gently and garnish with fresh rosemary.

And at the end of the year: Which cocktail was the most popular in 2023?

Knorr: Tequila is experiencing a small upswing this year, especially thanks to many new celebrity tequilas from the USA. The “Pink Paloma” should be mentioned as a newcomer among the drinks. It is a refreshing tequila creation, perfect for the start of the new year, with 5 cl tequila, 1 cl lime juice, pink grapefruit lemonade, ice cubes and a pinch of salt on the rim of the glass.
