For or against a guaranteed minimum service in transport? : Current Woman Le MAG

"We offer a minimum voluntary service": Bruno Gazeau, president of the National Federation of Transport User Associations (FNAUT)

During the strikes last December, several lines were not served at certain times and on certain routes. The users were penalized. We offer a minimum service "freely agreed", that is to say the maintenance of a minimum of round trip on main lines and small lines. We respect the right to strike and are not in favor of requisitioning drivers, but the right to transport should not be overlooked. The freedom to move around safely, without jostling or dangerous crowding, must be guaranteed to users.

"It is a questioning of the right to strike": Baptiste Arsale, secretary general of the UNSA Transport

The right to strike is constitutional. There are already two laws (2007 and 2012) which make it possible to reconcile concerted cessation of work and the continuity of public service. Certain employees have an obligation to inform management no later than 48 hours in advance of their intention to participate in the strike. The requisition of striking workers, as can be done with hospital staff or firefighters, would be a "questioning" of the right to strike. You cannot argue that you endanger people's lives by restricting transportation.
