For snooker talent – year with great successes and bitter defeats

Florian Nüßle looks at his season with mixed feelings. In 2023, the snooker talent finally wants to fulfill his dream.

Only one win was missing. Snooker hope Florian Nüßle lost out in the final of the U21 European Championship. Had he won, he would have gotten a ticket to the World Snooker Tour. “That was the worst defeat of my career,” the 20-year-old reluctantly remembers this moment. The man from Salzburg was not only close once this year, but he is still chasing his big goal. Nüßle is currently still an amateur and pays a lot more into his sport than he gets out of it. It would be different on the professional tour. “You can make really good money there,” he says. In addition to some lows and setbacks, Florian has also been able to celebrate great successes this year. Among other things, he was U21 World Champion. Strangely enough, he didn’t get a tour ticket for it. There is an extremely unfortunate explanation for this: “The association that is hosting the World Cup is arguing with that of the World Snooker Tour.” After a year with ups and downs and an incredible number of trips, Nüßle is currently charging the batteries for 2023 in his home country. In the coming season, he should finally be able to fulfill his dream. The first important tournaments are already scheduled for January. The people of Salzburg can optimally prepare for this in a specially rented room where their snooker table is located. “I’m confident I can do it next year and get a ticket. 2022 was enormously instructive for me,” says Nüßle.
