For the Nintendo Switch: The Pokemon alternative for bargain hunters


A lot has happened graphically in the Pokémon games in recent years since the original games were convincing in 2D. If you miss that and want to test an alternative to the pocket monsters, the monster RPG Coromon might be something for you. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch soon.

Developer TRAGsoft has one with Coromon cheaper alternative to the Pokémon games create. The title has been available for the PC since March 2022, and the release for the Nintendo Switch will follow shortly.

After Pokémon Sword and Shield (2019) and Pokémon Legends: Arceus (2022), Nintendo is bringing a new generation of monsters into the game later this year. The development of crimson and purple is in its final stage – the games are scheduled for release in November.

You could sweeten the waiting time with a Pokémon alternative. Coromon is reminiscent of the older offshoots for the Game Boy Advance, but also offers you its own features. The game has been available on Steam since March 2022 and boasts a rating of “very positive”. Coromon is coming to the Nintendo Switch on July 21st and at 19.99 euros is significantly cheaper than the games in the original Pokémon series.

What actually is Coromon?

According to publisher Freedom Games, Coromon is “a modern take on the classic monster tamer genre.” You explore ahuge world full of exciting turn-based battles, tricky puzzles and a mysterious threat to the world to defeat” (Source: Steam).

So although the game is primarily reminiscent of Pokémon, Coromon apparently offers you clearly more story, depth and mystery. So if you’re open to a cheaper Pokémon alternative and like the pixel style, you can’t go wrong buying Coromon.
