We won’t take it back. Two years after entering politics, Audrey Pulvar is a burnt out who no longer wants to approach the electoral fire. Certainly, there is no question for her of resigning from the Paris City Hall or from the Ile-de-France regional council. “I am committed to Parisians, the inhabitants of Ile-de-France, and I will go through with my mandates”, assures the former star journalist, sitting at the refreshment bar of the Hôtel de ville, between two votes at the Council of Paris. But she now confines herself to her favorite subject, food, and carefully avoids any controversy.
For the presidential election, she is discreet, so as not to have to decide between Christiane Taubira and Anne Hidalgo. The former justice minister is one of the political figures she feels closest to. But appearing alongside her would immediately be interpreted as a betrayal of the mayor of Paris, to whom Audrey Pulvar owes her political career, and of whom she is the deputy.
Results : “I support the left, from the Communist Party to Anne Hidalgo, but without supporting any candidate in particular, insofar as there is no union”, she said, sinking into the red seat. A note of caution: among the socialist and related deputies, she is the only one not to sponsor the candidate Hidalgo. “She is the exception that proves the rule, comments the socialist senator Rémi Féraud, boss of the group Paris in common. But she doesn’t cross any yellow lines, and she works very well on her files. »
Political love at first sight with Anne Hidalgo
It all started so well. In 2019, after dating from afar, Audrey Pulvar and Anne Hidalgo experienced a kind of political love at first sight. In January 2019, after leaving the government a few months earlier, Nicolas Hulot took over the presidency of the Foundation for Nature and Man, which he had entrusted to Audrey Pulvar. The former columnist of “We are not lying” is therefore looking for another activity.
At the same time, Anne Hidalgo is looking for new faces for her municipal campaign. This is how Audrey Pulvar became, in the fall of 2019, one of the spokespersons for the socialist candidate, then her food assistant. Its mission: to make Paris “the capital of better eating”. A few months later, under the impetus of Anne Hidalgo, the Socialists propel the new elected top of their list for the regional in Ile-de-France.
